Im also sure there is some form of sensor which works by measuring frequency passed through a metal 'stay' of some sort. As the tension of the 'stay' is increased due to the force applied to it, the resonant frequency changes.....sorry if this is vauge but im not too sure how the technology works exactly myself!! Let me know if im totally wrong :)
