Hi,
I am involved in some testing using some ASTM
protocols and I have a number of questions (if you
are not the point of contact, please forward my
questions to the appropriate personnel):

For D471-98e1 (Standard Test Method for Rubber
Property-Effect of Liquids):

11.
Procedure 11.1 ...and then obtain the mass M2 of
each specimen immersed in distilled water at room
temperature

The question is how does one weigh the immersed
specimen:

1)does one do it by suspending the specimen from
above onto a toploader balance having a beaker of water
or
2)does one do it by suspending the specimen from a
balance with the capability of loading the specimens
from below and immersing into a beaker of water?

We have the capability of doing both (the suspending
below the balance is giving problems of
repeatability).

Thank you for your time in this matter and hope to
hear from you soon. Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
Alex Balboa
