Yesterday I was using my plasma cutter, a PowCon 225 SMC, when it started to “sputter”. When I unscrewed the torch the electrode was worn down significantly. So I replaced it. When I went back to cut I could not get the spark to engage. My ground was good; I checked that I assembled the torch correctly (I’ve replaced the electrode on this unit hundreds of times over the past few years) and that the air pressure was not low. I don’t have any idea what could be wrong with the unit and I need some trouble shooting ideas. The green trigger light comes on when I press the trigger button and I don’t get any red lights. There is an odd buzzing noise that comes from the unit when I press the trigger. I believe I’ve heard that in the past but the noise from the torch usually drowns out all other sounds when the unit is working properly.
Any thoughts I what I should look at would be greatly appreciated. Also, where can I order parts? Thanks -Arnold
