Geez, if your getting 650 Vac at high idle, I'd be inclined to suggest that your stator is pooched, otherwise, i'd say that your machine is completely miswired. Your going to want to Megger" your stator windings, or at the very least use an ohm meter and check your ac, and welder stud conections to frame ground, also check your armature slip rings to frame ground. I'd have done this before investing in 6 expensive diodes. The Diodes in this unit are NOT known for shorting. Perhaps you should have had them checked befor replaceing them.
