Hi, I ran across this thread during a web search. I use a gasoline torch on a daily bases at work, and I can say first hand that they work great, and are safe!The initial cost seems a bit high, but it does save alot of $$$ in the long run if you cut steel as much as we do. We cut anywhere from 1" - 10" steel with these torches.The brand we have is a US made. The name is Petrogen, Inc.You can read all about this torch, and many gov't tests on it at http://www.petrogen.com
