I think Duane gave you some good info. I have a Millermatic 150 that I used a demo unit. It has served me well.

The major name brands are beginning to blur together somewhat, Mike. ITW now owns Miller, Hobart, and Powcon and Lincoln has acquired ESAB.
The Hobart is intended to be the lower cost option from ITW.

One of the main differences between the smaller units is the input power. The 110V units will be a little more costly to operate than the 220V units. Also keep in mind that the small 130 amp units will run a bit hotter on the self shielded tubular wire. This will allow for better penetration on thicker material. Be sure to change polarity.

There are imports that will be a good bargain and will become more familiar in the coming months and years. Panasonic and Comparc are a couple to look for.
