I've been recently trying to find an absolute position sensors (encoder, resolver, hall sensor, modular encoder, etc.) to utilize in the commutation of an in-wheel, brushless DC motor design. That is, the stator will be built around a stationary axle, and the rotor will be attached to the rotating rim (we are currently targeting an electric bike application). Since the axle of the bicycle will go completely through the motor, we are opting for a hollow shaft design for the encoder/resolver. However, the encoder/resolver will be of an inverted design (the outer casing will rotate
with the rotor while the inner portion will be locked to the axle). In an effort to improve reliability and mantainence concerns, we are trying to avoid using any type of brush design (e.g., a brushed resolver, slip rings, etc.). I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation on a manufacturer that produces a similar product or could offer a custom application. Thanks Matthew Feemster
