I do not have a UPS account, because I ship only sporadically (8 to 10 packages per month). I ALWAYS pay for my shipments by company check which I hand over to the UPS driver. My problem is I ALWAYS get billed for any shipment going other than Ground Service. In other words, if it has a Waybill, I will get billed. I then have to go through the exercise of calling their billing department to explain that I paid by check. They sometimes want me to look up my check number to "prove" that I actually paid by check (the driver would not have taken the package if it were not pre-paid!). I make sure to check the little boxes on the Waybill that read "Prepaid" and "Check", but to no avail. I still get billed. I had contacted MANY people in many different positions over the last couple of years at UPS and NOBODY can explain why this is happening! I am very frustrated. Sometimes I wonder if they do this intentionally in order to pressure me to get a UPS account. But the way UPS functions is, when you have a UPS account, the driver comes by for a pickup whether you have something to be shipped or not! (very inefficient!). Does anybody have any ideas why this is happening to me? I understand it also happens to some other people who don't have UPS accounts.
