I have a 1976 Monarch 10EE toolroom lathe. The variable speed for the spindle rpm uses old thyratron vacuum tubes. This system is giving me a lot of headaches. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced replacement for the electronics so I can replace the tube setup with solid state electronics? Monarch makes replacement kits, but their cheapest one is $8000.
