Subject: Bridgeport Boss8 (r2e3) diag "FIST" monitor K3 connections

Does anyone out there have any knowledge conserning the r2e3 proprietary controller that came w/ Bridgeport boss8 cnc machines (1984).

More specifically the proven connections of a terminal
for controller diagnostic use, which is refered to in the
"Installation and Maintenence Manual" (chapter 8 page 8-1)
as the FIST realtime monitor.
The instructions for connection via serial port directly
to K3 on the FMDC board make me wonder if its a typo,, or
written by a relative? Anyway it seems logic does not apply
if you really think about what there trying to say, or somethings missing.
When I hook up and initialize, I get the "HI" confirming correct communications between the controller and computer terminal, but then instead of dumping blocks of data as shown, I get consecutive squares (approx 3 1/2 lines or 150
chars), and when I use debug to view the raw data both "H"
and "I" are the normal ascii designated code for these chars but the chars after that are all HEX 80 which is
out of range for an ascii char???

Any ideas about whats goin on, and what the proper connections (and settings if applicable) would be appriciated (K3 to 9 pin sub D connector).
This is the only function on my machine that doesn`t
work, everything else I was able to repair.

Maybe we can trade info
I know almost all areas of
the boss8 series II
