POST MORE INFO FOR MORE RESULTS;
Boss 5, 6, or?
model control r2e3?
s/n
year built, etc
I own a boss8 (1984) also capable of reading
punch tape, one of the, if not the oldest,
form of cnc data transfer. I believe all
Bridgport nc machines have serial ports in,
which I utilize via my computer to either
download small pgms.(11k or smaller) or by using
a DNC program, I can drip feed the control up
to 32,768 lines of nc code.
It is probable your machine is also capable
with the proper software. Or you can also use
Windows "terminal .exe" to directely download
any G-code pgm you might wright, bypassing the
unnessessary time needed to punch and load tape,
not to mention time re punching due to minor
pgm mods, which is a snap using direct serial transfer.
A great place to start would be to purchace
a programming manual from the mfgr or somehow get
a copy. Actually you should obtain all available manuals for your model, to get the most from it)
These manuals (about 4 books...pgm, maint,parts,
and operating manuals) even though it seems like
they may have been written by someone related to the Boss (eg. could not be fired due to incompetencey) they contain the best source of
info (including serial communications, connections, etc)I`ve been able to find, though I`ve kept looking.
GOOD LUCK!
