I replaced the ac motor on my maximat 7 about 2 years ago. I use a 48 frame 1/2 hp 3 phase motor powered with a 1/2 hp vfd drive. The difference in operating has been remarkable. Fingertip control of speeds, along with the gear changes, gives you a speed range down to crawl.
get rid of the cumbersome emco switchgear.
