Neal is right.
Now, with the aid of computers to control machinery, and the tolerances achievable from said machinery, the NEED for these 'Craftsmen' has dwindled dramatically.

There is a new 'Skill' on the block, and that is the ability for programmers and CNC Operators to optimize these programs and machines to run the tight tolerances at much faster cycle times, while still holding tolerances not attainable just a few years ago.

If you have the opportunity, get into the new age of machining, where the pay is better and the work is, in my opinion, easier.
