If you are just tinkering, and don't want to grind your cutter's anymore, go to Enco's catalog and look in the
indexable lathe cutting tool section. You can get a 5 pcs set for $30 - $40 depending on the shank size, that will
work just fine. The tip's are cheap to buy and will work good for general turning, they come in a var. of radius also.
I have a set of these in 3/8" shank's and 5/8" shank's and they are fine. I bought mine so I could alter the whole cutter
for odd job's without destoying a so called "good one". The tip's are called TT221 - TT321, 322, 323's and can be
crossed over into a better grade tip such as Kennametal, however, I don't think you would need to do this.
