Thanks for the reply.I am still a bit confused as to the actual term " Turner".Is this really just another name for a lathe operator or does a Turner specialise in a particular aspect/area of working a lathe?For example,"Turner" suggets to me that perhaps he/she might be skilled in Turning (hence the name "Turner")as opposed to other lathe skills.From your last answer you said that an inexperienced person would practise simple skills like turning, so this suggests that a "Turner" must be someone who is skilled in all areas of Lathe work, and not just turning.Is this correct?

I apologise for going on about this but I have not until your last reply been able to define exactly what a Turner does!!
