Hello again,

thanks for the reply.Basically all I want to know is:

i) What skills does someone who has been working with a lathe for some twenty years possess, that someone who has been using a lathe for a few months does not?

ii) What products would someone with a few months make?

iii)What products would someone with several years experience using a lathe ( and in particular machining steel)make?

These are questions asked merely out of curiosity.
I had a relative whose job title was "engineer's Turner", who worked in a steel works.I had no idea what the job title was so I thought I'd use the net as a resource for finding out!

Hope that clarifies things and thanks for your trouble.

Cheers.

Ron
