Hello all,

Before i post yet another question, let me please say "thank you" for all your answers to my previous questions. They have been appreciated.

Using a micro-controller, I need to measure precise seconds. My first thought was obviously a real-time clock and yes, i've got one working (a DS1302) with a PIC micro.
However, the rtc is a bit overkill because i don't need absolute time/date etc., i just need to measure seconds.
Does anyone know of a precision 1Hz oscillator circuit for less than 3(GBP) or maybe I should use a precision crystal (rather than a cheapo resonator) for the PIC clock and use the timer ?

All answers on a post card to:

Precision 1Hz measurement competition,
Darrens application,
Home.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Darren
