I am trying to measure the speed and position of a moving golf ball. At a distance of about 12inches. Would ultrasonics be the right way to do it. I am concerned as i believe that i need to take two measurements one after the other and do some maths to work out the distance etc. Would the roundness and dimples of such an object lead to an error or discrepancy in the readings.
