A software for using serial ports of your PC in batch (script)
mode is available at:

It has a Basic like script language, it can open multiple ports,
can do jobs that a normal terminal can't do, like waiting
for a specific string, making decisions, sending data in various modes.
It can open virtual instruments built with Rack Designer.
A PC based voltmeter can be built in 5 minutes !
