Dear Ray, In a linear sampled system it is possible to apply dithering (your word) and then take the average of a set of samples. This technique of taking N samples to get one good sample is a form of oversampling. The technique is wasted on non-linear systems because an arithmetic average is not possible since normal arithmetic rules do not apply. Best Regards, Mike.
