Subject: Does coating affect the optical performance of an optical system?

Hi, Mr. Mike Pagano, or whoever can help:

Suppose the optical system has a beam splitter in it, whether it is
cube beam splitter, or plate beam splitter.

Suppose the designer wants a 50%T-50%R coating.

My question is:
If the coating is not actually 50-50, let's say it is 40%T-60%R, will that affect the
optical performance of the whole optical system? Such as will it introducing any
aberration? double image?
