1. METHOD OF DESIGNATION

Quote short title, Thickness x Width and the 12 –digit part number consisting of the 7-digit standard number followed by the 5-digit number shown against the required thickness and width in Table-1 and letter S.

2. REQUIREMENTS

2.1. Iron-Nickel-Cobalt Alloy ( Kovar ), Strips ordered as per 5228 003 S shall
Comply with the data given in this standard.

2.2. The material shall comply with the requirements of ASTM:1995 UNS K94610
And be supplied in Cold Rolled and Annealed ( A ) condition.

2.3. The strips shall be commercially smooth, uniform in cross section, composition
and temper. It shall be free of scale, corrosion, cracks, seams, scratches, slivers
and other defects that are detrimental to its suitability and use.

2,4. The strips shall be supplied in coils of continuous length unless otherwise
stated in the order.

2.5. The dimensions and tolerances shall be as per Table-1..

2.6. Packaging, Packing and Marking

2.6.1 Unit Packaging – The strips in coils of mass not exceeding 10 kg shall be wrapped
round with polyethylene film to prevent from moisture absorption, oxidation and
corrosion.

2.6.2. Packing- Unit packages of mass not exceeding 100 kg shall be suitability packed in
wooden cases in such a way as to have no movements inside the case and the case shall
be sealed with box strapping.

2.6.3. Marking- The packing cases shall be marked with the name of the supplier , type
reference, dimensions, description of the item, batch number, nett mass, part number the
purchase order reference.

2.7. Test Certificate- The supplier shall provide a test certificate wherever possible
indicating physical, chemical and mechanical properties along with each consignment.

3. APPLICATION

The material covered by this standard is a ferro-magnetic alloy and is not corrosion
Resistant. However there is no danger of corrosion when used in normal, ambient conditions or in dry atmosphere. This material is a controlled expansion glass-sealing super alloy, having linear coefficient of thermal expansion equal to that of hard glass of the borosilicate type. The
Strips covered by this standard are intended to be used in X-Ray tunes, transmitting tubes,
Transistors, Special Lead Frames for Integrated Circuits, Hermatic Seal Leads and Glass- Metal
And Ceramic-Metal Seals. These strips can be soldered and welded with similar alloy and steels.

5. IDENTIFICATION

After the material has passed the acceptance tests, it shall be marked with
ORANGE-YELLOW colour bands by Bharat Electronics as per DS 125

2. REQUIREMENTS

2.1. Copper, oxygen Free Electronic ( OFE), Hard Rounds ordered as per 5202 002 S shall
comply with the data given in this standard.

2.2. The material shall comply with the requirements of ASTM:187M-1997, Grade OFE
( Oxygen Free Electronic ), UNS No.-C10100, ASTM:B249M-1994A ASTM:F68
-1993 And shall be supplied in H04-Hard condition. The material shall be manufa-
ctured by hot rolling or extrusion and finished by cold drawig or straightening to meet
properties specified in this standard.

2.3. The rounds shall be free of defects, but blemishes of a nature that do not interfere with
normal commercial operations are acceptable. It shall be well cleaned and free of dirt.
A superficial film of residual light lubricant is normally present and is permissible
Unless otherwise specified.

2.4. The rounds shall be supplied in lengths of 1000 mm with a tolerance of +10/-0mm,
unless otherwise stated in the order. The diameters and tolerances shall be as per
Table-1

2.5. Straightness - The rounds shall not deviate from straightness by more than 4.3
mm per 1000mm portion of total length.

2.6. Packaging, Packing and Marking

2.6.1. Unit Packaging- The rounds shall be bundled in unit packages of mass not
Exceeding 50 kg and covered suitably to prevent oxidation, moisture absorption
And tarnishing.

2.6.2. Packing- Unit packages of mass not exceeding 250 kg shall be wrapped round
with polyethylene films to avoid oxidation, moisture absorption, tarnishing
and shall be packed in wooden cases in such a way as to have no movement of the
rounds inside the case. The cases shall be sealed with steel box strapping to
avoid damage during transit.

2.6.3. Marking - The packing cases shall be marked with the name of the supplier type,
Reference, dimensions, description of the item, batch number, nett mass, part
Number and the purchase order reference.

2.7. The inspection and acceptance criteria of Oxygen Free Electronic ( OFE ), hard
Copper rounds covered by this standard shall be as per QS 1011.

2.8. Test Certificate- The supplier shall provide a test certificate wherever possible
possible indicating physical, chemical, mechanical and electrical properties
along with each consignment.

3. APPLICATION

Oxygen Free Electronic ( OFE ) copper has higher purity level and has
Excellent resistance resistance to atmospheric & water corrosion. This material
Is not susceptible to embrittlement at elevated temperature. The rounds covered
By this standard can be readily soldered, brazed in vacuum or protective
Atmosphere to avoid oxidation effects, gas tungsten arc welded and gas
Metal are welded. However, shielded metal arc and resistance welding methods
Are not recommended. OFE copper rounds are intended for the fabrication of
Internal parts of electron tubes.
