Dear David,
Some of the industrial producers are providing small 1mm square conical targets for flash X-rays. Since KVs in FLASH X-rays can go upto 500KV and heavy currents are required, filament is normally not used(cold-cathode X-ray). Due to heavy mA, the anode usually evaporates in one or two flashes and has to be replaced after that therefore the tube is connected with a vaccum pump also. I know one company SCANDIFLASH which produces similar X-ray systems. They may even provide you with a number of targets for your use.
If you elaborate the application a bit more, you may recieve further suggestions.
regards,
Khalid
