Is there a an inexpensive way to generate one shot x-rays similar to a flash tube? For example are there chemical powders when oxidized (burnt) that emit x-rays. Something short of nuclear fusion of course! I know Hampshire Instrument in MA (bankrupt) could generate soft x-rays via laser stimulation of a target for a x-ray photolithography application but I have not seen any thing other than a Scientific American article published on this. My application is hobby oriented. I want to try to expose polaroid film with various specimens between source and film.
