I recently purchased an old Oil Dielectric Breakdown Tester. I want to use it for testing the quality of transformer oils used in X-ray tubeheads. There is no manufacture's name or model number on it. In fact, it looks to be a prototype. Could someone tell me where I could find general information on how to use this type of tester? It appears to work. If I place dirty, gassy oil in the test cup and run up the voltage, it trips out at a very low voltage ( 30kv across the gap. If anyone with experience with this type of tester can help me out with tips and pointers, I would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
