wE USED TO COAT OUT INGOT MOULDS, WITH A CARBON COATING, USING ACETYLENE AND EITHER AIR OR CARBON DIOXIDE, THIS GIVE INCOMPLETE COMBUSTION PRODUCING A SOOTIY DEPOSIT ON THE SURFACE. tHE ADVANTAGE OF THIS WAS THAT THE DEPOSIT WAS HARD WEARING AND EVENLY COATING.
