Apart from using temperature and time to obtain chilled areas in a casting, is it possible by elemental addition, just before pouring to alter the chemistry to ensure that the complete casting is chilled, regardless of pouring temperature and residence time?
If possible, I want to be able to take a typical grade 25 gray cast iron chemistry and guarantee that it chills throughout the mold - is this possible?
