Subject: Hardness problem in high chrome iron.

During the manufacture of high chrome iron pump parts,we have been getting low hardness350-400BHN. It is desired to get a hardness of over 500BHN.
Often the as cast hardness is in the range of 450-470,but upon hardening the hardness drops. The nominal chemistry is 23-24% Cr and 2.8-3.1%C . Also the hardening cycle is heat to 980*C soak for 4 hrs and fast air cool. Please suggest suitable corrective measures Thanks
