Checking the mould coat is the first step

Have a look at the moulding practice for the smaller bodies. May be you are achieving enough mould/core compaction with higher sizes. 45 degree is the most likely position to have porosity as o degree has parting line and 90 degree has direct compaction. Allow gases to escape at this area.
