We run a Disamatic molding machine to cast ductile iron for mass production. The pouring method is still manually. We poured about 30 moulds for about 6 - 8 minutes. I think this time period is in the tolerance for "not to lose the effect of the magnesium treatment".

What I need to know is; we prepare a separate mould to cast the microstructure test sample. And this mould is being poured after the Disamatic 30th moulds. We are satisfy with this method, but I think it would be a little bit easier if we could take the feeder or the gating system from the Disamatic 30th mould as the microstructure test sample.

May I do it ? Is the Feeder or the gating system representative enough ? Does any Foundry do this method ?
If there is nobody does, why ?

Thanks
