We manufacture grey iron cylinder blocks castings for automotive diesel engine. We are facing problem of blowholes on the tappet cover face of the casting. One observation is that in the blowholes we find small rounded globules which have smooth surface and blue color.
1. What these globules could be?
2. We are currently using blended inoculant for this casting. Can switching over to alloyed inoculant help?
