Perhaps you are referring to stainless steel heattreatment wherein you are measuring the delta ferrite content. The extent of ferrite would depend on your heattreatment processing parameters. If you could furnish those details alongwith the chemistry of the components being heattreated it will be possible to provide more details. Yes it is posible to control ferrite content in stainless steels to less than 5% content.
