in the plant where a i work we have a problem with lead.
We produce constructional steel from scrap using EAF and we cast 130x130 billet. I have noticed that when the Pb content is over about 100 ppm lead forms a layer on mould surface which has a detrimental effect on heat transfer; several times it is necessary to close the lines otherwise we get a breakout. I couldn't find anything facing this argument in my literature searches, so, can anybody help me?
