The printed circuit boards can be classified based on their performance as .

They are based on IPC specifications as

CLASS 1- General electronic product boards
CLASS 2- Dedicated Service Electronics products
boards and
CLASS 3- High reliability Electroni products
boards.

Refer to IPC-2221 document on generic printed circuit boards.

Based on the producibility level, they are classified as

CLASS A- General Design Complexity
CLASS B- Moderate Design Complexity
CLASS C- High Design Complexity
