I just recently finished up on a 14 month contract
learning and using Cadence Alegro. Prior to this
job I did a three month on Pads power PCB. I find
that Cadence is as user friendly as Pads but has
so many more options for the user. There are
probably 3 ways to do an operation and it is up
to the user to pick, in Cadence. In the long run
if you are doing high speed, high density boards
such as a computer mother-board Cadence would have
more tools. I have not priced either tool for at
least a year but remember Pads was add on and before you get all you need your in the Cadence ball-park. As you can guess I am leaning to Cadence as my first choice. I would love to take a
stint on Veri-Best(Mentor) now , just to compare.
