The review understates the problems and it is pretty accurate.

Protel 99SE SP6 is still dreadful.

I admit it will stay up longer than Protel V1, an unbelievable cockup.

Is there a really good alternative? Not that I've found. All these packages are bad in one way or another. There is a good one on the horizon but I suspect it will be killed by bad marketing policy. (early versions get most things spot on)
I do not name it because it isn't ready for the reader.

I was interested to read in some of the comments about the rip off problem. When will these vendors learn that tolerating a considerable degree of rip off is very good for business. There are plenty of examples where a company goes tight and then fails, yet they were doing well.
They don't seem to understand that most companies do not want to run illegal but also that most of those ripping off would not buy but often turn legit when they have the money.
Allied to this is the functionally restricted version... it does not work as a ploy.
