I do digital design for the most part, as a hobbyist with some consulting on the side - hardware OTP encryption, process control computers and the like.

If I was a confirmed Eagle user before, I'm twice as confirmed now - lack of blind vias notwithstanding. It's reasonably fast even on a P166, sufficiently featureful, reasonably priced and CAD Soft continue to the design team continues to actually develop it rather than just throw features at it and damn the bugs, full speed ahead.

Besides, I like unix (Linux in the case of Eagle) and X far better than Gatesware and Eagle is quite at home in such environs.

May Protel take heed and improve their product, else may they go the way of smallpox.
