I heartily agree that this forum is necessary. I would like to see it concentrated on REAL design issues such as DFM, DFA, DFT,HDI, materials specs and properties, and high speed design techniques / guidelines, microvia and other new technologies for high density design. The current forum (sci.electronics.cad) seems to me to have become a forum for people to bitch about the inadequecies of many low cost CAD tools that are being used out there. There seems to me to be a lot of people who want the stability and capabilities of high end tools under the pretence of using them for small personal projects. If you want high end capability then you should bloody well buy it. Someone has to pay for the ongoing development of CAD tools. Also I have become tired of people asking for the 'crack' for program 'x'. A forum which is dedicated to real design issues would be very welcome.
