Hi Mike,

I am George from Munich in Germany.
I read through your Protel comments with high interest!

I think you really spent a lot of time to get such a detailed and sophisticated view
on that program!

I am also a Protel User working for a semiconductor company here in Munich
(IFX). I am heading a group of application engineers for rf designs and always got
the problem to find a good CAD software fitting to our requirements.

I tested also a lot of different solutions. One of the major drawbacks i have:
I need buried and blind vias and now the problem: Eagle cannot do it and they
not able to tell me a date of possible implementation. Otherwise it would also be
my first choice.

I tested a lot of software and my conclusion is: Its all a compromise between money and performance...

We decided 3 years ago to use Mentor/ Integra.... which seems to be a mistake because they canceled this
product now!!!
In this software bundle it was also not possible to see the via's in the print out... which gives you headache when
you want to do rf-design and transfer this pcb consideration for RF-IC application to your customers in some documents

So we decided to use Protell99SE. We only use the Schematic and the Layout (no Autorouter, killer for rf!!!) and
honestly we are not satisfied but it works. No Problems with Hardware - using NT and 2000. Our biggest project is
a complete rf-frontend for GSM Multiband frontend (4layers, approx. 100 devices including Power Amplifer!)

I continue looking for good alternatives but up to now i have not found a more cost-effective solution with this of course
improvable performance...

Greetings from munich
