Hi, what kind of microphone do you have? Use a microfon that is sensitive in one direction only. This wil cancel picking up a lot of the surreounding noises. Make sure you use good shielded cable, microphones have a very low voltage and are sensitive to picking up noise. If you can, you a balanced system. Or mount your preamp near to the microphone.
