Check international rectifier site.

An H bridge of complementary power mosfets should work fine with a power transformer.

At 50 to 60 Hertz you will need a Ford F150 to carry the 2kw transformer. You will need a 12 volt to 220 volt at 3kw to do the job.

You might consider operating the transformer at a higher frequency like 20 to 50 kilo Hertz.
