The MOSFET input is capacitive, and for high power devices can be as high as .01uF. A very high current is required from the driver to charge the MOSFET input capacitance quickly. The current pulse is short, so the power level is low. The MOSFET is fully "on" at 10 volts input, so the driver does not need to have a voltage rating higher than 20 or 30 volts.
