what u really need is a choke input push-pull topology, the Cuk will need a 40A switch on the primary, not to mention transformer decoupling caps (20A rms on the primary)that will make the layout unweildy and add to the switching loss.

choke i/p p-p overcomes all of this, is easily controllable, has buck & boost capability and can be made RF quiet.

Any decent PE engineer can sketch you up a circuit and control in 15mins.
