I want to put an ambient light sensor of some kind on a clock radio's LED display so it will automatically dim the display when the light in the room gets to a low enough level. I am hoping someone could give some ideas on what to use for this. If nothing else it would be nice just to add some kind of switch to dim the display manually. I was thinking of having a relay switch in some value of resistance to dim the LED's but I don't know if that is a good way to go.
Thanks for any help.

Clem
