I have been attempting to build an audio router with 2 phono inputs and outputs, where each input or ouput can be turned on/off independently. I've put all the components in place and i wired one test path using one input and one ouput. The test worked except that there was a significant amount of white noise in the background. Any suggestions to reduce this white noise would be greatly appreciated. I'm relatively new to DIY electronics so even the most obvious suggestions may be the source of the problem.
Thx

P.S. the wires used were very basic multiple strand wires so this may be the source of the problem, could anyone recommend where to buy good quality audio wire?
