Thanks for the help. I actually had been thinking about inductors for a while now since I am aware of their ability to increase voltage. I did just borrow a signal generator and scope and so far I've been able to use the switched capacitor circuit to boost my 12V square wave to a 10-23V stepped voltage. If you're interested, I'm actually trying to run a Vanagon tachometer with the output of a Subaru engine ECU. I am doing pretty well understanding the circuit theories but when it comes to component values, I am sadly weak.
