Heather,

Since you are a novice, I strongly recommend that you do not try to modify the color organ by adding the LED circuit. I expect most of the parts in the color organ are 'live' - that is CONNECTED TO LINE!

So for your own safety, do not attempt to modify the color organ by yourself.

Apart from the shock hazard, you could create a fire hazard.

To do this kind of thing, you really need to get 'hands on' help from someone with adequate training and knowledge, and he/she will need a complete circuit diagram for the color organ.
