Jay,

It might be useful for protecting logic I.C.s running on a 5V rail, provided the device leakage current at 5.25V (max logic supply @5% tolerance) is acceptably small. If I remember correctly, logic families designed for 5V supply have an absolute max (stress) rating of 7V.
