Constant current would make welding a lot easier, but I have not seen a switching power supply design for constant current. The equations that work for 100 watts also work for 10,000 watts, but by the time you buy the 300 amp mosfets, you could have built a motor-generator set cheaper.I built a 400 amp welder out of a WWII surplus aircraft generator and a Crosley 4 cylinder motor; it worked great.
