Hi Russ
The component assembly was done on a pick and place machine (I think?). It was done professionally by the PCB makers. It looked clean enough...
What about ground between circuit elements, ie analogue circuit, amplifier, digital. I understand that the circuit can suffer common impedance problems if the ground is not seperated, and should only be connected at one node, near the battery. Is this correct? and would this lead to the problems I have experienced? I didn't realise the implications of mixing ground returns when I set the layout. I suppose we all have to learn sometime.

Many thanks

Darren
